Around 130 employees and guests as well as Minister President Daniel Günther accepted the Solana Group's invitation to officially open the new seed breeding building and greenhouse after around 1.5 years of construction on 28th August.

‘I am delighted that we are opening the building today: This is for you,’ said Leo von Kameke, Managing Shareholder of the Solana Group, addressing the team of around 60 employees who are now moving into their new workplaces at the Windeby site and thanking them for their support and patience during the construction phase.

Minister President Günther congratulated the Solana Group on the opening of the new building and said in his welcoming address that he was proud to have such a company in Schleswig-Holstein and, as a resident of Eckernförde, even in the neighbourhood. ‘Family businesses are very important for our state. They are characterised by great loyalty to the location, are deeply rooted in the region and are a stabilising factor in our economy,’ said the Minister President. ‘You have made investment decisions with your company, the Solana Group. That is a good sign because you believe in the conditions here,’ said the Prime Minister. He was also pleased about the additional jobs that have been created and are still to be filled.

Leo von Kameke emphasised: ‘As a local employer and potato grower, we are strengthening this location through the extensive construction measures and thus securing our position as an attractive employer for specialists and managers in international competition. And the Schleswig-Holstein location and its healthy sites near the Baltic Sea are strategically important for us to ensure the healthy preservation of seed potatoes.’
